Winterizing Your C60 Concrete Mixer
As the temperatures begin to drop, it’s time to think about preparing your C60 concrete mixer for winter. Cold weather can affect your equipment, so it’s important to follow these easy steps to make sure everything runs smoothly throughout the winter season.
How to Winterize the C60 Water System
- Drain the water tank: Make sure the water tank is empty.
- Unravel and drain the hose reel: Once it’s fully drained, roll the hose back up.
- Open all drain cocks in these spots:
- Plumbing from the water tank (if you have it).
- Elbow where the suction line meets the water pump assembly.
- Bottom of the water pump.
- Bottom of the water strainer.
- Main water line on the fender.
- Bottom of the valve assembly entering the hopper.
- With the PTO off, activate the water system to open the water valve.
- Turn off the water system.
- Open the black valve and turn the yellow handle valve ¼ of the way to let air flow through. Once water stops, close the yellow handle valve.
- Check all drain cocks: Make sure they’re all closed before using the system again.
How to Winterize the Admix System
- Flip the 3-way valve to point from the tank line to the water/airline side.
- Disconnect the suction hose from the admix tank, drain it, then reconnect.
- Turn on all admix systems from the control panel.
- Open the air supply valve and turn the yellow handle valve to blow out the admix system.
- Once only air comes out, shut off the air supply and yellow handle valve.
- Turn off the admix systems.
- Remove and empty the strainers, then replace them.
- Turn the admix system back on to run it with air pressure.
- Turn off the admix systems and return the 3-way ball valves back to the admix tanks.
- Your admix system is now winterized.
Why This Matters
Winterizing your equipment not only protects it from freezing temperatures but also ensures that it’s ready to go when you need it most. Make sure to follow these simple steps to avoid damage and keep your C60 mixer running efficiently.
