Taking Control of Concrete Supply: How SiteSource Solved Their Ready-Mix Challenges

SiteSource faced an issue that many contractors encounter—getting the right amount of concrete when they needed it. The demand for concrete was skyrocketing, and their usual reliance on ready-mix trucks was causing delays. To keep up with a busy schedule and meet customer needs, they needed a new solution. That’s when they turned to Cemen Tech’s volumetric concrete mixers.

Concrete Delays Slowing Down Projects

As construction projects surged in 2021, SiteSource was busier than they had been in over a decade. But even as their workload increased, the availability of ready-mix trucks became a bottleneck. “We were having difficulties getting concrete when we needed it due to high demand,” said Jeff Davidson, SiteSource Operations Manager. This shortage made it hard to complete jobs on time and plan for future projects.

Volumetric Mixers Bring Flexibility

To solve this problem, SiteSource added volumetric concrete mixers to their fleet. These mixers gave them the ability to pour concrete whenever they needed it—no more waiting on ready-mix trucks. Davidson explained, “Our volumetric mixers allow us to pour short loads, like a four-yard stem wall or two-yard footing repair and send the ready-mix trucks to other jobsites so we can maximize our fleet.”

This flexibility not only increased their capacity to take on more jobs but also gave them more control over their schedule, helping them meet deadlines and keep projects moving forward.

Proven Technology and Strong Support

When SiteSource began looking into volumetric technology, they did their research. According to Davidson, “We looked at a couple of different brands, but Cemen Tech stood out because of the equipment construction, support, and innovative technology.”

One of the standout features was Cemen Tech’s ACCU-POUR™ system, which allowed SiteSource to track dispatching, inventory, billing, and invoicing all from one platform. “We use ACCU-POUR™ daily. The data helps us make good business decisions and run our operation more efficiently,” Davidson said.

Easy to Learn, No Concrete Experience Needed

One of the biggest concerns when integrating new equipment is training operators. But SiteSource’s experience with Cemen Tech proved to be smooth and straightforward. “Our first two operators came from within our organization, and they picked it up quickly,” Davidson explained. With a two-day training at Cemen Tech’s facility and a week of hands-on support, their operators were soon running the volumetric mixers confidently.

What’s more, previous concrete experience wasn’t necessary. “With the technology on these mixers, you don’t have to be a concrete expert. The support from Cemen Tech and the resources we have made it easy for our team to get up to speed,” Davidson added.

Meeting Demand and Growing the Business

Since adding volumetric mixers, SiteSource has been able to pour concrete when they need it, which has had a huge impact on their business. They’ve reduced delays, kept up with the growing demand, and even expanded their service offerings. “We’ve done everything from footings and driveways to service repairs. Volumetric mixers allow us to handle small loads and fill the gaps where ready-mix can’t,” said Davidson.

By taking control of their concrete supply, SiteSource has positioned themselves to keep up with the industry’s demands while also growing their business.
